SIDS and Kids Queensland Memorial Wall and Garden Opening


On Sunday the 21st of August 2011 I was asked to attend the opening of a very special memorial wall and garden at the head office of SIDS and Kids Qld.

What a wonderful day it turned out to be and what beautiful people I had the pleasure of meeting. I also caught up with the lovely Kylie Darbey and her beautiful boys and shed a tear at the plaque for you little girl Hayley who's short life is honoured in this beautiful place. Kylie is not only a beautiful person and sole but she is incredibly talented and spends a lot of her spare time making wonderful Journals for Yasminah's Gift of Hope.

At the launch there were tears and hugs and admiration as we listened to the founder of Sids Qld and her tireless efforts to start such a wonderful place where families can go and find help for the loss of any child up to the age of 6 years that unfortunately are lost not only to Sids but under any sad circumstance.

This beautiful garden can now be a place where families can go and feel safe and peaceful a place where they can just sit and remember not only their baby or child but all the Angel babies and children. My friend Brenda has now ordered a plaque for her Little boy Zak and another for her Auntie that lost a baby many years ago. This baby is buried in New Zealand but will be honoured and remembered in this garden. This has brought so much peace her her as she now has a special place in Australia and close to home where she can go and remember.

To have a plaque placed in this special garden all you need to do is visit or contact SIDS and Kids Qld. The plaques are free but most families leave a donation to help SIDS to continue their wonderful work and maintain the garden.

Everyday as I honour lives in jewellery I read and hear countless story's. So many of them are beyond sad as the lives are lost too early. Some are of wonderful lives lived for years and through the tears of the loss you can see the happiness of a long and wonderful life.

I listen to all the stories and do truly take them all on board. I stress over every piece of jewellery I make and not a day would go by when tears are not shed in my office or work room. Especially the days when an image may arrive that is going to go into a locket. It seems to be so much more real when you get to see the face of the loved one that a family has been talking and emailing about. Even images of the tiniest of hands or little feet just make my heart so sad.

How do I deal with so much sadness and loss everyday?
I get asked this a lot.
To say that some days I just don't is true.
Then I discovered YOGA

Yoga? Yes Yoga, I felt that I was holding onto every loss I read about and ever loved one that entered my home. I was so heavy with grief that I was no longer going to be helpful to anyone. So Yoga was the answer. If anyone has ever done Yoga you find yourself at the start and finish of every session whether as home or in a class with "Quite"time. In this quite time I would say the names of the loved ones I have read about that week and the ones I have placed into jewellery. Then as I said their name I would visualize each of them with an Angel and if an Adult they would take the hand of their Angel and go to Heaven. If the loved one is a Baby then I would say the name of the baby and have an Angel pick the baby up in their arms and shield them with their wings and carry them away. Tears always trickle a little down my face and I am sure people worry about me if I am doing a Yoga class but I don't care, as this practice then clears my heart and I am then able to go on and help the next family that needs me.

This is never to say that any of the lives I have honoured are ever forgotten. I think of so many of you everyday. Just having released the life to an Angel helps my heart to heal and takes away the heaviness.

This I guess is why I was so drawn to the following range. I have known of these beautiful pieces for years and have only now decided it is time to share. Each piece in some way can hold your loved one in the Arms of An Angel and is the best way I can find to show what I see during my Yoga.

How one family personalized their Angel stone to remember a baby girl lost too early. This image has a very special meaning to them. Is your special day coming up? Will there be someone special watching over you from Heaven that you wished could be with you? Will you do something special to honour then and remember then on your special day?

I have been married for 7yrs now to my wonderful husband Mark. Mark had lost his mother when he was only 8 and I had lost a much loved Grandmother and Great Aunt many years ago. We remembered these loved ones with a special prayer and lighting of three candles at the beginning of our service to represent them watching over us from Heaven.

My Grandmother was also part of our Wedding for the fact that her pearls were my something old. I did not wear them as you would normally wear pearls as one of her necklaces had broken years ago so instead of having them restrung I hand sewed them into the train on my dress.


As jewellery is my art form now days I have helped many families have a special loved one with them on their special day. Maybe that could be something simple as a Pearl.

A Godfather walked down the isle with this lady with is image in a glass pendant and special words they use to share on the back.

This lady's Mother had passed away only a few months before her wedding so in a special locket with a photo of the two of them and words to her mother on the other side this locket was also part of a bridal bouquet and later to become a treasured piece of jewellery to wear.

Long before I found my passion for helping families heal with my jewellery I use to just make general keepsakes and from time to time I still do. This is my husbands fingerprint in fine silver in one of my favorite lockets. A wedding photo is on the other side.

His print is also on the back of this Angel wing. I wear this almost everyday. I am so fortunate that Mark is still very much with me on this earth but I still love to wear his print and have him with me where ever I go. Especially when I travel.

A favorite gift of mine to give as a Wedding gift. This is one of my many memory balls with a series of favorite shots from our day in Black & White. I love Black & White images in silver.

In a few short weeks I have a lovely friend getting Married and sadly her Angel Baby Boy will be watching from Heaven. I dedicate this post to her and her family. On this special day Blake will be remembered and will also be in many pieces of jewellery. His ashes have been placed in all sorts of styles from lockets to shells, to suit Aunty's, cousins and of course his Mum. It has been a long journey for this family since first meeting them after the sad loss of Blake. I remember getting an email from Blake's mum not long after Christmas saying how her jeweller was so special as Blake got to be in every Christmas day photo taken. I now know this will also be her thoughts with her special Wedding photos.
I will be thinking of you all and I know Blake will be watching so look for his signs. I send you Big Love and Hugs for the day. ♥

My office is filled with letters, notes, cards and images that so many lovely families send me. I keep them all and many hang on cork boards or are framed. They remind me on the tough days that what I do makes a difference and helps families to heal. A lot of your emails also go to my testimonial page, a page I read often. Again to remind me to keep going along the path my Angels have chosen for me. The tough days are not only the days I read your stories to help create something special, tough days are also the days I spend editing images for lockets. They say "a picture paints a thousand words", I think that is an understatement, I see so much more in everyone.

Now back to the reason for this post as I seem to have got sidetracked. As I looked around my office today I was reminded and read something I have had up for years and just wanted to share. Many of you would have read it before, I love it.

Jewellery for Children and Siblings

Children and Siblings


Far to often I am sadly asked to help families find special jewellery for Children. The jewellery could be for a surviving twin, or a sibling that has lost a big brother or sister prior to their birth or maybe a little bother or sister, in Heaven sometime born sleeping or has passed too early.

Children who have lost Parents, Grandparents or a significant loved one can also find healing in special memorial jewellery.

Many people have asked me if I think that children are too young for such special jewellery. All I can say is that from all the families of children I have made jewellery for I get nothing but good and positive feedback about how much the jewellery has helped the child. How it has calmed a child and that they totally understand the importance of the piece and it is treated with so much love and care. Email after email comes into my office with beautiful stories of the words that have come out of a child's mouth in relation to their special piece of jewellery.

Pieces for Children can be as simple as An Angel Ball or as Personal and individualized as a Locket. Most adult sized jewellery can be found in smaller versions for children. Dog tags can be engraved or etched. Lockets can be personalized. Small stone pendants can have images of loved ones, or hand and footprints placed into the back. Natural stones are often better than lockets as they do not open, the child can see the image by simply turning the stone over. Lockets I would only recommend to a slightly older child as lockets can be delicate and a small child will often open them too far and can break the hinges.

I was contacted by a lovely family in Perth not long after I posted about The Healing Power of Angel Balls. This family was trying to find something simple yet meaningful to help them Heal after the loss of their Baby Girl. Little did they know the true power of something this special especially as seen by a young boy. below with their permission I will share their story of how Angel Balls have helped the whole family heal. They have asked to share in the hope that this story may too help others. Big Love and Hugs for sharing.

Hi Sue,

I'm so sorry that i did'nt reply sooner. I've had such a busy week and just didn't have the time to sit down and really give this email my full attention like it deserves.

We did get our Angel Balls and they are everything we expected and more. I absolutely agree with you about the engraving. It is written so delicately and they are just beautiful. Thankyou so much, not only have they given us a sence of closure but have also helped our family in a way we did'nt expect.

As i'm sure you assumed that one of the balls was for me and the other was for my husband. Well when we recieved them we unpacked the parcel together and looked and listened to each of them. I placed mine on my chain and put it on more or less straight away. Mark intended to put his on a string of leather that he has hung up in his office which also has our 2 sons finger prints in silver hung on. My eldest son Marky Jr is nearly 3 and a half and was very excited about my pregnancy, came with me to all my ultrasounds and appointments and he was always asking questions and is a very protective big brother. He would also pretend he had a baby in his tummy and when we first told him that i was pregnant i was only six weeks along. We asked if he wanted another baby brother or a little sister and he said with no doubt that the baby was a little sister. Nothing during my pregnancy would change his mind and eventually we found out that he was right and we were expecting a girl.

Then when we lost our baby we told him that God had made her an Angel and needed to take her up to Heaven to be his special helper, but he is still so young and doesn't quiet understand, and would ask about why we couldn't visit her in Heaven or give her the things we had brought for her. Two months later he still asks about his little sister or "our Angel" and when we can go see her. So ofcourse he was very inquistive when we were unpacking the Angel Balls and asked alot of questions. We told him that they were a special present that God had posted from Heaven for us because he knew we were sad that we couldn'nt bring our baby home. I said they were magical because even though we could never see her the Angel Balls would let us talk to her from Heaven. Marky thought about this for a few seconds and jingled the ball, then said to me "No Mummy Angels don't talk to me, she is singing". He had a few more questions then decided it was like a telephone and when we had answered all his questions he ran to his bedroom and got his St Christpher necklace that we gave him for his christening and told me that he wanted to sing with sister too. And since then he has worn my husband's Angel Ball, but if you ask Marky it's his Angel Telephone.

Receiving an email like that not only brings out the tissues it also acts as a sign to me from my Angels that I am doing what they have chosen for me to do. This is to help families heal through jewellery, the only language I know.

The Power of A Natural Stone

The Power of A Natural Stone or Crystal



I truly believe that everything on this earth holds an energy. Have you even looked through an Antique store and felt the energy of items inside have you ever wanted to know the stories they could tell? The other day I put a customers necklace on to show her what it looked like on and boy did it feel strange and trust me I am no stranger to putting on lots of different jewellery. I also remember a time I had to do a quick repair for a very special lady to a very important locket of her "Wow" is all I could say. What an amazing energy that piece has I could feel how much it was loved and needed to go home very very quickly.

For centuries people have believed and used natural stones and Crystals for healing. Stones are loved by so many that I often get asked to place loved ones ashes, hair and images in the back of natural stones either for Love or the particular energy one stone my be known to have. Not only do I love natural stones for their beauty and healing powers but not two are ever the same just as no two lives.

If you have a stone that is special to you whether it be a birthstone a stone for Healing, Love, Peace or Abundance please let me know as I can probably get one for you in the shape and size that will suit you. Or it may just be a colour you would like. From Reds to Pinks to Blues Greens and Black stones will suit you all.

Things I have placed in the back of Natural stones are so very personal and the images in the post are just a very few I have done. I place CarlyMarie images in quite often as well as hair that you can see across little hands or footprints. Faces young or old. I placed a much love partners ashes only a week ago under a Yin Yang symbol in the back of a Lapis Lazuli as it was a special stone to a family. I have even sealed a prosthetic eye of a Friends husband in the back of one of the prettiest pink stones I have ever had. As this lady knows sometimes the stones will pick you. Amazing how the stones know.

 Natural stones are not generally found set in gold as the price of gold exceeds the value of the stone. I can however get stones re set in gold for you at a price that would need to quoted based on the size of the stone as the bigger the stone the more gold I would need to use to set the stone

This stone is now with a very special friend of mine and I truly believe it was sent from Heaven just for her by her three little girls. I have never been able to find one like it since. I can get similar setting but nothing quite this magical has come across my path again.

This is not to say I can not find you something very special and unique for you I just want to re state that every stone is different and unique and this makes these stones even more special
